Irene's a comin'

As of right now, hurricane Irene is 1,013 miles away from Raleigh. According to the news reports, she is due to arrive on the North Carolina coast at the end of the week, and, if her course remains the same, things might get a little wild around here come the weekend.

At Steven's urging, the kids and I went and stocked up on some things yesterday like batteries, candles, water and lots and lots of food that doesn't need to be cooked or refrigerated....just in case. If we have a power outage, we'll be set. I'm hoping that doesn't happen, but no one knows what the weather will do.

For right now, our temps are in the low 90's with lots of humidity and sunshine. Seems like a storm is far off.

I'm hoping Irene simmers down and decides not to visit the Outer Banks. Perhaps she'll decide she doesn't want to see the Graveyard of the Atlantic all that much after all.
