Luxembourg

We'd been talking about visiting the country of Luxembourg for quite a while, and in January we finally got there.

Luxembourg is a very small country. Here's where it is on a map:

It was a chilly, wet day, but it was still a really nice trip. Both Scott and Mylee took over the camera. I don't know for sure which kid took which photo, but most of the credit goes to them. The shots at the end of the trip are mine. Kids get tired, you know. :)

First business is finding a WC. (That's harder than most people think.) We found this one...we called it the Auto Whizzer, although we're positive that isn't it's real name.

It's a self cleaning toilet. Put your 50 Euro cents in, step inside, do your business and when you come out it cleans itself up. It takes a while between people, which is hard on a full bladder, but you take what you can get when you have to pee.

We visited a cathedral in Luxembourg. It was called Notre Dame. I didn't realize there was more than one of those...come to find out there are quite a few. This one was beautiful.

The Christmas tree was decorated with strands of gold tinsel that looked like liquid gold shimmering in the lights from above.

It was very quiet in the church with only a few visitors. When we came outside, the sun was beginning to set behind the beautiful Luxembourg skyline.

We were all very hungry by this time so the search for food was on!

The problem with that was that it was a holiday. Not a whole lot was open.

As a last resort, we all decided to visit the Golden Arches. When nothing else is open, I guess you can always depend on Mc Donald's, right? Quite honestly, my Big Mac was pretty tasty....

There was much we didn't see in Luxembourg that I would like to come back and visit. It was a nice trip, however, and I was grateful to spend the day there.
